Florida Prevailing Wage Information
Currently, there is no prevailing wage law under Florida State law. Florida enacted a state prevailing wage law in 1933, however it was repealed in 1979. There is no state or federal requirement that Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA) or any “prevailing wage” be paid by the state, counties or cities in Florida. All federal funded public works/construction projects fall under the DBRA and are governed by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). As a result, Florida is considered a “Little Davis-Bacon” state.
Individual cities/counties within this state have imposed either their own prevailing wage regulations or chose to implement DBRA such as Orlando and Miami-Dade County. Please See, below for details.
Orlando
The city of Orlando is the only Central Florida municipal government to apply Davis-Bacon wages to its construction projects (although Orange County does not impose this requirement). These federal Davis-Bacon wage rates can be viewed at the US DOL website: http://www.wdol.gov/dba.aspx
Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade County also follows Davis-Bacon requirements and has its own local “Responsible Wages and Benefits” law (a little different than Davis-Bacon) depending on the type of construction. Miami—Dade County implements both or either Davis-Bacon and Responsible Wages and Benefits law depending on the type of construction. Please See, the following webpages for more information on the law, reports and wages:
